Akira Toriyama, the legendary creator of global phenomenon Dragon Ball, has passed away at age 68. Akira Toriyama suffered an acute subdural hematoma, a type of bleeding near the brain, his studio said Friday. Dragon Ball is hugely popular around the world and the comic series has also spawned cartoon and film versions.
Total legend. RIP. His work was so influential in me as it was for so many other non-Japanese kids seeing it in Dragon Quest games or Dragonball. Much like with Yoshitaka Amano and Ketsuya Terada, my big early exposure to Toriyama’s art was in Nintendo Power. That I still think about that today is testament to the indelible impact his talent had.
Art is important and while its sad to see artists pass on, their legacy remains for the world.
A touching memorial whose sentiments are shared by millions the world over.
The problem with post-90s anime is it's made by guys of our generation who missed the point of touchstones like DBZ, MS Gundam, and Record of Lodoss War.
